JARROWS ALA!

I have been using R-ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid) everyday for about 4 months now and I am reaping the benefits of a cleaner body, clearer mind and increased energy. I am still finding out what this supplement can do. At the time of writing I am conducting an experiment with R-ALA, in combination with other supplements, to detoxify plastic from the body. With this, from taking just 1 100mg dose daily I have noticed greatly increased cognitive function as well as peace of mind knowing that the daily toxicity we are exposed to has been counterbalanced.

R-ALA is a potent vitamin like antioxidant that is useful in a variety of ways, such as treating radiation sickness, damaged livers, diabetes and related conditions. It also boasts benefits such as protecting against oxidative processes that promote premature Ageing and degenerative diseases.

ALA works with the mitochondria contained within cells, playing a crucial role in mitochondrial electron transport reactions involved in converting glucose into ATP to produce energy. We could compare the effects of ALA on Mitochondria, to increasing the size of a container on the back of a lorry, and also fitting the lorry with a new engine and wheels. The lorry can now transport more load and does so more efficiently. In the times we are in we need all the energy we can muster to have the reserves to not only function efficiently through life, but to perhaps even transcend the Matrix itself.

ALA was first discovered in the 1930s. A short while after its discovery it was thought to be a vitamin. Further research defined ALA to be an essential coenzyme, building upon this was the discoveries that ALA is a powerful biological antioxidant. ALA is versatile and is either water or fat soluble and easily passes through cell membranes. ALA also readily passes through the blood brain barrier and can be very beneficial in removing toxins from the brain. This includes heavy metals which can be very resilient to being dislodged from the brain. Andrew Cutler has created a very interesting protocol for the detoxification of Mercury.

“Due to the presence of two sulphur groups, lipoic acid is a chelating agent. It chelates Mercury both intracellular (inside cells) and extracellular (blood and lymph) in the brain and in other parts of the body.”

ALA is very effective in the recycling process of central antioxidants, such as Vitamin C, E and glutathione. It gives these antioxidants new life, and thus helps to protect against free radicals, those unpaired electrons which can cause damage all around the body.

Natural ALA is referred to as R-Alpha Lipoic Acid. The most common ALA supplement contains a combination of 50% R-ALA and 50% S-ALA. Even though the body can utilise both, there is a strong preference to the biologically active R-ALA. Although it is more expensive, it is definitely worth it, as it is more effective in lower doses. Thankfully it has come down in price in recent years, although still 3x the price of ALA.

I have personally take Jarrows R-ALA from recommendation of a respected friend who has been taking it for a while. You can take it once a day for maintenance, or, if you can afford it, you can take it 3x a day, morning afternoon and evening it has a half life of 3 hours. A maintenance dose acts a general safeguard to all the things we eat, drink and breathe. Good for peace of mind when we are living in quite a toxic part of human history.

I also have begun using daily a green powder containing an equal combination of organic chlorella, alfalfa, wheat and barely grass and spirulina. You can find the product I am using here. I stopped drinking caffeinated products due to my body deciding it does not want them anymore resulting in negative reactions. However, this has been replaced with my morning green powder drink and I believe this is much better as instead of tricking my body into thinking it has energy, I actually just have more energy! I also combine it with Hemp Protein powder and along with my millet, really sets me up for a day of work. I do hard physical work outdoors and this combination keeps me pumping for hours.

The benefits of these ingredients are vast, so I wont go into detail about them all here but the internet is abundant with this information. Here is a basic information sheet. Basically this powder acts as a filler in relation to any gaps you may have vitamin and mineral wise. I highly recommend everyone to get into the habit of using these super foods and it does not have to be the same combination as I am using just to ensure you have a mix of similar high quality products.

3. Melatonin

Melatonin has been a life saver for me when I happen to be hit with a wave of mild insomnia. It has saved me from spending what feels like hours lying in bed not being able to sleep. Many times I would just meditate, but sometimes I am exhausted from the day but still can’t sleep and its hard to maintain focus and can become extremely irritating. I use this product and it is very strong, most of the time I only need between 0.5-1mg and I am sound asleep.

The concept of taking melatonin is sometimes hit with adverse reactions in people as they seemed to be programmed to stay away from ‘sleeping pills’. The problem lies in the fact that people just assume anything you take to aid your sleep is dangerous, potentially addictive and so on. I have found this all to not be true for melatonin. I have in no way been addicted to melatonin and easily can go weeks in between using it. Then sometimes when the full moon energies are strong I feel the need to take and I am so grateful to have it by my bedside when I need it. For reasons obvious to those in the know, melatonin has become illegal in certain countries but can still be brought from Ebay, I am currently in New Zealand which doesn’t allow people to have it without prescription but I found a vendor that ships here and is effective, so that’s good.

What is different about melatonin and sleeping pills is melatonin is actually the hormone that the pineal gland synthesises from the serotonin which in turn is synthesised from the amino acid tryptophan. There could be a number of factors that would inhibit the production of melatonin. As on example, if you do not get enough protein and lack tryptophan then serotonin production/transportation may be inhibited and thus melatonin would be effected. Also E.M.F. can have an effect on this also. This is all easily helped with melatonin, although it is more ideal to have a healthy balanced body that can produce its own melatonin, sometimes we just need that bit of assistance.

4. Psyllium Husk Powder

Psyllium is great. It is pure dietary fibre and within that, has a good amount of soluble fibre that greatly assists digestion by forming into watery gel substance in the intestinal track. This gel seals the intestines, keeps things moving along down there and may also provide some beneficial food for our gut bacteria. When consumed before meals, it acts as a prebiotic to awaken the digestive tract to life.

I take a level tablespoon in a large glass of water and drink the mixture immediately as the psyllium will absorb the water very fast. Also, due to the water absorption properties of psyllium it is very important to remain above normal level of hydration. The most common use I have for psyllium is when I may of eaten to much gluten or a bad combination of food and I can feel that it is not digesting properly, (This is where being in tune with the body has its benefits as one can identify what bodily sensations mean what, for example it is now very easy for me to know when my digestion is stuck and needs some assistance) then within 30 minutes to 2 hours I can feel the psyllium kicking in, keeping things moving along. Imagine a pipe cleaner for your intestines. You also don’t have to worry about it being like a laxative as the effects are very subtle and psyllium can even be taken before bed to then have your bowels ready for a release in the morning.

I really can’t stress how much of a life saver psyllium has been, it is not very often I have to use it but it has come in great use when I do, saving me from much unnecessary pain and loss of energy. Also as it does not need to be used so often, a small investment goes a long way.
